Origins
This small and unsupported ministry was founded in 1980 by Navajo pastors Ben and Rosie Lewis. As the Lewises grew too old to continue pastoring the church, the ministry passed through several different ministers until it hit hard times and had to close its doors in 2001. |
The Vision
However, in 2005, the grandchildren of Rosie Lewis saw a sign: angels and a rainbow over the church building, and “Grandma Rosie” knew it was time to re-open the church. She asked God to help her find a preacher to lead the church, and a few days later Wallace Begay knocked on her door. Since 2005 Pastor Wallace has led this growing, vibrant, and Spirit-filled community to become a vital Shiprock establishment of around 100 regularly-attending Navajo believers. |
